I always concentrated on my studies and dad never brought work home.However, I don’t think I’m competing with anyone because everyone has different talent, which it is a treat to watch. I kept thinking that I could play the role of protagonist, but never voiced out my thoughts. In a candid chat, he spills the beans on his debut film with father Abbas Burmawalla (of the Abbas-Mustan duo), working with Kiara Advani and much more.Are you already feeling the pressure of competing with top actors?I am still getting into it. He confesses that he became an actor by chance and not by choice. The main cast of the film wasn’t locked then and they wanted to make Machine with someone else. A few years ago, when I was assisting Abbas-Mustan on Players, Race 2 and Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karun, I used to read out the scenes and enact it to them. My father, although unsure about this, mulled over the idea for over two months. Edited excerpts from the interview:How did your acting journey start?I was never into acting, I was more involved in direction. Meanwhile, I went to NSD and trained under N. That’s how acting interested me — it was never my dream to be one. The only memory I have is when I went on the sets of Baadshah and I only remember Shah Rukh Khan sir being there — nothing else. The question that is pertinent at this juncture, when the world celebrates the Environmental Day, is that can we afford more plastics being dumped on the earth? Are our authorities at the local level well equipped for proper disposal of the plastic waste that has increased massively in cities? Most of the experts opine that we still have a long way to go.Home delivery of food is the order of the day and it is convenient, too. But, is it environmentally responsible? This has been a new change. No need of free cutlery in the delivery packs. The plastic packing and cutlery that come along are single-use plastic, and go into the waste stream,” he opines. Even if we are opting for ordering food online, we must use the options available in these apps wherein we can avoid the plastic cutleries. This new convenience is probably here to stay, but at a huge cost on the environment and our health.  When asked if the local government bodies have the proper infrastructure to deal with the increasing plastic waste, Dr Joy says that the authorities are responsible for these never ending miseries of the people in the city.

We have to consciously stop the usage of plastic.”Suggesting a possible solution for the increasing plastic waste, Sridhar says that the four stake holders – city corporation, eateries, home delivery companies and the public – must intervene to get at least some important things in place.
